I have arrived in California! Rachel and Dan picked me up last night, and we had a nice Italian dinner with Dan's dad's best friend from business school (and the friend's family, and, obviously, Dan's dad). I've met her roommates (lovely), and we made squash risotto and ate our weight in bread dipped in oil and vinegar. I just wanted to let everyone know that the first leg of my trip is going well. For future reference, I fly out on Monday afternoon, have a layover in Dallas, and then leave Dallas around 9pm to head to Santiago. I arrive in Santiago de Chile around 7:30am the next morning (keep in mind that they're currently 3 hours ahead of us).
